Veteran’s Day is Tuesday – some simple ways to support our troops

As a reminder there are several ongoing local collection drives, and efforts to support our troops.

Edwardsville American Legion collects warm socks, blankets, and winter hats for Operation Warm Troops. They provide these Items to service members being medevac from Afghanistan to LRMC in Germany and then again stateside. It gets very cold at the higher altitudes. You may take donations to the legion or give them to a member.

EHS Interact Club will be collecting cell phones for Cell Phones for Soldiers October 22 – November 21st.  Bring any old cell phones to the Media Center, Athletic Office, or NO Nelson Complex office. Cell phones and accessories do not have to be functional or workings, as they will be recycled to fund calling cards for soldiers.
Phones are recycled and money is used to buy calling cards for soldiers to call home to their families.

OpGratHighRes.logoCheck with your local dentist about donating halloween candy. Associated Pediatric and BauerHite were both participating.

Collection Connection is your go-to website when you are ready to unload something you’ve been collecting but just don’t know where to go with it. The concept is simple: connect organizations who are holding a collection drive with people who can do the collecting. Old cell phones, prom dresses, Christmas lights, pet supplies… the list goes on and on. Instead of adding your stuff to a landfill, check Collection Connection for a drop off location where your items can be recycled, repurposed or reused!
